Abstract
Promotion is needed so that employees are more enthusiastic at work and have challenges to improve their performance. This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of job mutation and promotion on job satisfaction in employees of the Padang City Trade Office. This study used a quantitative approach through explanatory research. The independent variables used are job mutation (X1) and promotion (X2), the dependent variable is job performance (Y), and the intervening variable is job satisfaction (Z). The sample selection technique uses jenih samples, with a total of 94 employees of the Padang City Trade Office. Data collection is done through questionnaires. Data analysis techniques are carried out through Struqtural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of data analysis show that job mutations have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Promotion has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Work mutation has a positive and significant effect on work performance. Promotion has a positive and significant effect on job performance. Job satisfaction does not have a significant effect on job performance. Job mutation has no significant effect on job performance through job satisfaction as an intervening. Promotion does not have a significant effect on job performance through job satisfaction as an intervention at the Padang City Trade Office
