The type of research used is qualitative descriptive. Data is collected using tests, interviews, and documentation. Tests and interviews are conducted to learn more about the ability to represent the mathematical concept of students in solving the problem of building a room. The subjects in this study were two people, obtained from 30 students through a test of subject networking. The results of the data analysis showed that the ability to representation of mathematical concepts of students arises when presented mathematical problems, namely visual ability, symbolic ability and verbal ability. Visual capabilities in the form of images are to create geometric building images to explain problems and facilitate their resolution; symbolic ability in the form of mathematical equations or expressions by creating mathematical equations or models of the given representation and problem solving by involving mathematical expressions; verbal ability in the form of written words or text that is to write the interpretation of a representation appropriately and write down the steps of solving mathematical problems
Marwa Astriani Kamsurya Copyright (c) 2021 Indo-MathEdu Intellectuals Journal https://ejournal.indo-intellectual.id/index.php/imeij/article/view/16 Wed, 20 Oct 2021 00:00:00 +0700 Analysis of Mathematical Connection Skills Using Realistic Mathematical Education https://ejournal.indo-intellectual.id/index.php/imeij/article/view/20
Connection ability is the ability to associate between topics in mathematics, associate mathematics in other sciences, and with everyday life. This research aims to find out the ability of mathematical connections by using the realistic mathematical education of the concept of Social Arithmetic in class VII of SMP Negeri 209 Jakarta. This type of research is qualitative descriptive with the selection of subjects based on the results of interviews. The main instrument in the study was the researchers themselves. Instruments for discovering mathematical connection skills are tests and interviews. Data collection techniques with observation guidelines, tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used is qualitative analysis i.e. data collection, presentation of data, and withdrawal of conclusions. The results of the analysis showed that subjects included students who had the ability of mathematical connections that met 4 indicators of mathematical connections, namely recognizing the equivalent representation of the same concept, recognizing the relationship of a mathematical procedure of a representation to an equivalent representation procedure, using and assessing the relationship between topics with other disciplines, using mathematics in everyday life
Wagino Wagino, Andriani Copyright (c) 2021 Indo-MathEdu Intellectuals Journal https://ejournal.indo-intellectual.id/index.php/imeij/article/view/20 Wed, 20 Oct 2021 00:00:00 +0700 Students' Mathematical Communication Skills in Solving Quadratic Equation Problems https://ejournal.indo-intellectual.id/index.php/imeij/article/view/24
Mathematics learning today only emphasizes the mastery of the material alone and more one-way communication with students. The buildup of information from teachers results in the learning style of students who tend to memorize. This research aims to find out the mathematical communication skills of students in solving quadratic equation problems. This type of research is qualitative descriptive. Determination of the subject using purposive sampling techniques with the criteria of the student's test results. The study subjects numbered three people consisting of students who obtained grades in high, medium, and low categories. Indicators of communication skills in this researcher are (1) explain and make mathematical statements that have been studied, (2) state everyday events in a language or mathematical symbol, and (3) provide an explanation of mathematical ideas, concepts, or situations with their own language in the form of writing mathematically. The instruments used are researchers, tests and interviews. Data analysis techniques are using quantitataif data analysis with data reduction stages, data presentation, and conclusion withdrawal. The results of the data analysis showed that the KSS subject met 3 indicators of mathematical communication skills. AHB subjects meet 2 of the 3 indicators, namely the first and third indicators. WL subjects meet reached 1 of 3 indicators of mathematical communication skills, namely the first indicators.
Reza Muhamad Zaenal, Tio Heriyana Copyright (c) 2021 Indo-MathEdu Intellectuals Journal https://ejournal.indo-intellectual.id/index.php/imeij/article/view/24 Wed, 20 Oct 2021 00:00:00 +0700 Development of Interactive Multimedia Based Learning Media on Set Materials https://ejournal.indo-intellectual.id/index.php/imeij/article/view/19
This research aims to find out the development of interactive multimedia-based learning media in the material of class VII MTs Negeri Ambon. This research uses Research and Development with development models proposed by Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel. The development research stage consists of 4 stages known as 4D models, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. The results of this study showed that interactive multimedia-based learning media was declared very valid, judging from the final results of the assessment of media validators and materials by 89% with criteria that are very valid or worth using without revision. Interactive multimedia-based learning media is stated to be very practical with the dissemination of student response questionnaires, meeting positive categories. Obtaining scores of 86.43% with very practical criteria and worthy of use without revision, interactive multimedia-based learning media is otherwise quite effectively used in known learning from student N-Gain results of 0.66 or 66% with moderate categories. Interactive multimedia-based learning media developed meets the valid, effective, and practical categories. It deserves to be used in mathematics learning on set material for students of class VII MTs. This research aims to find out the critical thinking skills of students in solving problems on probability. This type of research is qualitative descriptive. The subjects in the study numbered one person who was selected using purposive sampling techniques using the criteria of student test results. The instruments used are tests and interviews. Tests are used to find out students' learning outcomes and interviews are used to determine students' critical thinking skills. Data analysis used is qualitative data analysis consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion withdrawal. Data analysis results obtained that the subject in the learning process and problem solving process has the ability to think critically and meets three indicators of critical thinking skills, namely trying to know information well, providing reasons for problem solving, and finding alternative solutions.
Imam Muqimil Haq, Fika Widya Sawitri Copyright (c) 2021 Indo-MathEdu Intellectuals Journal https://ejournal.indo-intellectual.id/index.php/imeij/article/view/23 Wed, 20 Oct 2021 00:00:00 +0700
