Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the internet as the primary source of information for New Student Admissions (PMB) in 2025. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method of 300 prospective students from various provinces in Indonesia. Data were collected through the distribution of online questionnaires containing questions regarding sources of PMB information, level of trust in information media, media usage preferences, and perceptions of the effectiveness of the internet in obtaining higher education information. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages, averages, and frequency distributions to describe the behavioral patterns of respondents in accessing PMB information. The results showed that 87% of prospective students relied on the internet as the primary source of PMB information, with social media and official university websites being the most widely used channels. The findings also showed that the internet was considered faster, easier to access, and able to provide more comprehensive information than conventional information sources. The novelty of this study lies in the analysis of the digital information search behavior of generation Z in the context of PMB in 2025. The results provide practical implications for higher education institutions to optimize digital communication strategies to increase information reach and engagement of prospective students.
