Abstract
Education plays an important role in shaping the quality of human resources; therefore, teacher professionalism continues to be developed through professional organizations. This study aims to describe teacher professional organizations and their role in improving educators’ competence and professionalism. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a library research design by examining various relevant literature, journals, books, and scientific sources. The results show that teacher professional organizations function as a forum for development, professionalism improvement, protection of rights, unity, and enhancement of teachers’ welfare. Various professional organizations such as PGRI, MGMP, KKG, IGI, PGMI, and AGPAII contribute to the development of teachers’ professional abilities through training, seminars, scientific discussions, and other professional development activities. The existence of professional organizations also supports the improvement of educational quality through sustainable teacher career development. Thus, teacher professional organizations have a strategic role in creating professional and qualified educators to meet the demands of educational development in the modern era.
