Abstract
Students' low critical thinking skills and motivation to learn mathematics are still problems frequently encountered in learning, mainly due to the teacher-centered learning process. One alternative that can be used to overcome this problem is the application of the Cooperative Script learning model. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Cooperative Script learning model on students' critical thinking skills and motivation to learn mathematics. This study used a pre-experimental method with a static group comparison design. The study population was 137 students spread across five classes, with two classes selected through a simple random sampling technique. One class was designated as the experimental class receiving Cooperative Script learning, while the other class was designated as the control class receiving conventional learning. Data were collected using a critical thinking ability test and a mathematics learning motivation questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using statistical tests with the help of SPSS. The results showed that the Cooperative Script learning model had a significant effect on students' critical thinking skills and motivation to learn mathematics. Students learning through the Cooperative Script model showed better critical thinking skills and learning motivation than students learning with conventional learning. Thus, the Cooperative Script model can be an effective learning alternative to improve the quality of mathematics learning.
