Abstract

This study aims to improve student activeness and learning outcomes through the application of the Discovery Learning model on the reproductive system material in class XIA3 at SMA Negeri 2 Pamekasan. The study uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which includes the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research was carried out in two cycles with 36 students as the subjects. Data collection was done through observation to measure student activeness and evaluation tests to know student learning outcomes. The data were analyzed descriptively both quantitatively and qualitatively based on the percentage of student activeness and completeness of learning outcomes. The research results show that applying the Discovery Learning model can increase student engagement and learning outcomes. The percentage of student engagement went up from 44% in the pre-cycle to 56% in cycle I, and then increased to 83% in cycle II. In addition, the completeness of student learning outcomes also improved from 28% in the pre-cycle to 61% in cycle I, reaching 86% in cycle II. These improvements show that the Discovery Learning model can create more active, interactive, and meaningful learning, making it easier for students to understand the reproductive system material. So, applying the Discovery Learning model is effective in boosting both student engagement and learning outcomes for class XI A3 at SMA Negeri 2 Pamekasan.
