Abstract

Student misconduct such as rule violations, poor discipline, and behavior deviating from norms poses a challenge to character development. Civics Education teachers play a crucial role in shaping student behavior through instruction and guidance. This study aims to analyze the strategies employed by Civics Education teachers to address student misconduct and to identify the factors that facilitate or hinder the implementation of these strategies at SMP Negeri 4 Idanogawo. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was adopted. The research subjects included the school principal, the deputy principal for student affairs, Civics Education teachers, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis, and subsequently processed via data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that teacher strategies include persuasive approaches involving counseling and guidance, the enforcement of discipline through educational sanctions, leading by example, and collaboration with the school administration and parents. Facilitating factors include school support, teachers serving as role models, and parental cooperation, whereas hindering factors include low student awareness, the influence of peer environments, a lack of parental supervision, and limited collaboration between the school and families.
