Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes through the implementation of the "Talking Stick" cooperative learning model in the fourth-grade IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) class at SDN 29 Ganting Utara, Padang City. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) study employing both qualitative and quantitative approaches, conducted over two cycles—each comprising two meetings—following the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 27 fourth-grade students (14 boys and 13 girls). Data were collected using test and non-test methods, utilizing instruments such as test questions and observation sheets for the Lesson Plan (RPM), teacher activities, and student activities. The results indicate an improvement in the quality of the Lesson Plan (RPM) from 82.14% in Cycle I to 92.85% in Cycle II. Teacher activity scores rose from 80.55% to 91.66%, while student activity scores increased from 80.55% to 91.66%. Student learning outcomes also improved in Cycle II, with average scores of 85.18% for the attitude aspect, 84.25% for knowledge, and 84.24% for skills. These findings demonstrate that implementing the "Talking Stick" cooperative learning model can foster improvements in learning activities and student learning outcomes in IPAS lessons.
