Abstract
Physical fitness is an important component in supporting students’ health, physical abilities, and learning readiness. However, the level of physical fitness among junior high school students in Indonesia remains relatively low due to insufficient physical activity and limited understanding of balanced nutrition. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of integrating balanced nutrition education and a sport science-based physical training program in improving the physical fitness of junior high school students. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving an experimental group and a control group. Data collection was conducted through physical fitness tests using pretest and posttest, and the data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. The results showed that the experimental group experienced an average increase in physical fitness of 16.75, which was higher than that of the control group at 6.35. The hypothesis test results indicated a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that the integration of balanced nutrition education and sport science-based physical training had a significant effect on improving students’ physical fitness. This study concludes that the integration of nutrition education and sport science-based physical training is effective in enhancing physical fitness while also promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors among students. The contribution of this research lies in the development of an innovative PJOK learning model based on an integrative approach between nutrition education and scientific physical training that can be sustainably implemented in the school environment.
