Abstract
The low mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SDN 14 Koto Lalang, Padang City on the material of plane figures indicate that learning is still dominated by teachers, student involvement is not optimal, and mathematical concepts have not been linked to real-life contexts. This study aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes through the application of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RMA) approach. The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with qualitative and quantitative approaches implemented in three cycles, including the planning stage, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 27 fourth-grade students at SDN 14 Koto Lalang, Padang City. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and learning outcome tests using the In-Depth Learning Plan (RPM) observation sheet, teacher and student activity observation sheets, and evaluation questions. Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively through reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions, while quantitative data were analyzed using the average value and percentage of learning completion. The results showed an increase in the quality of learning and learning outcomes in each cycle. The average learning outcome score increased from 70.68 in cycle I to 81.41 in cycle II and 95.87 in cycle III. This increase indicates that the implementation of the Realistic Mathematics Education approach effectively improves students' mathematics learning outcomes in the material on plane figures.
