Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of a local wisdom-based Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the social studies learning outcomes of elementary school students. The background of this research is based on the low student learning outcomes caused by conventional teaching methods that do not sufficiently relate learning materials to students’ real-life contexts. The implementation of a local wisdom-based PBL approach is expected to enhance students’ understanding through problem-solving activities that are relevant to their social and cultural environments. This study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design, involving two groups: an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using inferential statistical tests to determine differences in learning outcomes between the two groups. The results indicate that there is a significant effect of the implementation of the local wisdom-based PBL model on improving students’ social studies learning outcomes. Students in the experimental group demonstrated higher learning outcomes compared to those in the control group.
